Blyth pier access

Can anybody help me with some info. ?
Tried to fish Blyth pier last night, but couldn't find the access ?
Everything seemed Private Land, or site access, with railings ?
Not from area, normally fish , Whitby /Scarboro. areas, but blyth is similar distance, so I thought I'd give it a shot, so bit Pee'd off, 120ml round trip and never wet a line, looked at some of beach marks, but hadn't a clue what I would be casting at ? and at minus 4 you want to be in with some sort of chance.
looking @ access info. to Blyth pier, or other local marks,up to Lynmouth , down to whitley bay, where can get safe'ish parking for car, and a crack @ some coddies !

If you're coming from the south, approach Blyth along the sea front road, north from Seaton Sluice. When you hit the little bit dual carriageway take a right turn at the big roundabout, and follow this road for a few hundred yards. On the right you should pass the Bandstand, a little car park & some new build houses - just past these there's a turn-off to the right (I think it's sign posted Harbour), drive in over the speed-bump and park in the little car park on your right, next to the caravan lock-up park.

The "hole in the wall" gives you access to the beach; for the pier it's a 5-10 minute walk (depending how much gear you're carrying!) along the footpath, past the barrier & yacht club, then just before you get to the Harbourmaster's you turn onto the pier on your right.

ps, pier fishes best in a big sea, last night probably too flat - don't think much came from the Blyth area at all.

I was in, the little car park, by bandstand, several times last night, there are stepsdown to beach there, but I was still trying to get on pier then !
Think I will have to recce. in daylight ?

If you're at the bandstand then yeah you are one turn-off too early, continue along that road about another 400-500 yards, turn in and carpark is on your right backed by a caravan storage yard and facing the big sandy coloured truck depot. Park in the car park and walk along with the wall/sea/beach on your right - you can see the pier all the way along and the entrance is up towards the end.

but looking at latest post, on state of sleepers, if I had found it I would probably have gone arse over tit into the harbour
I think i'll have a look in daylight ?

Always best to walk any new or unfamiliar mark in the light of day. The sleepers can get pretty slippy at times and yeah watch out for the repair patches and the odd hole just waiting to trip you up.
