  • After a new rod....advice please

Looking for something to fish mainly clean beach and mixed. Not the rough stuff. Budget not too relevant as I may go second hand. Been recommended a Sonik SK4 or Carbon Metal Crest. I fancy a CCC LD.

    Any advice welcome. Thanks.

the carbon metal crest are a lovely rod and are much more pokey than the ccc they more suited to the ruff stuff and are really hard to get hold of now as no 1 wants to sell. what about 1 of the tip tornados? .. i aint used a ccc but my mate had 1 and sold it , it was really soft. its down to personal choice.

possibly the match ? there is alot of different tip tornados on ebay at the minute. you could even get away with using the match over mixed. no good for the rough though. if you fancy the ccc go for that it will be fine over sand

          The Sk3 14ft casting 5-7oz should be ideal for you m8 £119.99p.

I'm not 100% sure but I thought the SK4 was for rough ground.

Why would you want a stiff rod like a CM Crest or SK4 to fish clean ground? Get yourself a rod with a bit of feel to it, something that will bend where you can actually feel the fish on the end rather than just bully it in with a scaffolding pole.

If you are looking at a Century then I can highly recommend the Tip Tornado LD for clean beach fishing with a bit of mixed thrown in. Very slim, lighweight, excellent bite detection and a joy to cast. I've put a 150g lead over 200 yards with mine, I've also caught double figure smoothhound from the shore with it. Brilliant fishing rod for everything except rough ground / kelp fishing.

I've got a Tip Tornado Match and really like it. Generally fish clean beaches and the bite detection is spot on, but also good to cast with too

Thanks for the advice so far. You're confirming what I thought having read other posts and reviews. Not sure why I was recommended those rods.

I think I've narrowed it down to CCC LD or TT LD. Having said that the SK3 is cheap in comparison, but you get what you pay for in most cases.

I've been looking at the CCC LD but not so much at the TT LD. Will do a bit of research on that one. Both excellent rods I suspect for what I'm after.

                  Cheers.

On a similar note and not wishing to hijack the thread,I'm using an Abu Garcia Enticer 12 fter for beachcasting.I'm well aware that its not a top end rod and just wondered what the experienced hands think would be a good rod to look at next?
I'm not what you would call useless, but being a reborn sea angler, whats a good intermediate rod for the shorter bloke?
I'm thinking of maybe something about 13/14ft bearing in mind that mostly I'm salmon fishing with a 15fter so not intimidated by long rods. This is for mainly fishing cleanish beaches etc
                        Ta in advance.
