  • Treating myself to an early christmas present!

Right lads and lasses I had a nightmare last year when my 7000c3 broke down on me on the rocks and I didn't have a spare! Fancied a new reel for a while and have decided now to actually buy two, one sturdy one for the rocks and a smaller one for the beaches!!

Thought Id buy a 525 mag and maybe a slosh 30, what do yous reckon to that combo! Probably use 20lb on the 525 for the beach and 30lb on slosh 30 for the rocks!

Would you opt for those two or would yous maybe go for a different combo, maybe a 535 and a slosh 20 etc or both penn or slosh???? What do yous reckon is best!

Also, does the 525mag actually perform on the rough ground aswell with say 30lb straight through or is is to small?

Back yem at christmas so hopefully can get some reports up! Looks like its ging well at the minute!!

    Cheers in advance!

    Chopper!

I haven't used the slosh 30 but I have the 535 mag with 30lb line on for the rough stuff and I cant knock it. They are built to last and I think they are quite easy to get parts for if anything does go wrong.

They have stopped making parts for the older penns after Penn got bought over but there are a lot of spares still about. I am buying alot of 525 parts off eBay to keep a wee stock

Great combo mate , you could change the slosh30 for a 535gs if you wanted perfect for the edges with 30/35lb stright through. The 525mag is cabable of fishing the rocks with 30lb on as you dont need a big chuck most places. But id just use 20lb for the clean on ure 525 and ure sorted.

525's a great real for light line use, but for the heavy ground, 535 or slosh 30 would both be fine. I wouldn't use 30lb line, go for 40lb, you don't want a 6oz sinker breaking off while casting, plus, saves a shock leader being used.

                Cheers lads!

I use 35lb straight through on my 7000c3 and never snapped off, but I may upgrade to 40lb in the future! Better safe than sorry as always!! 60lb shock on the 525 with 20lb line??

So ill probably go for the 525mag and slosh30, next question standard slosh or the high speed one!

dont go for anything more than 35lb line mate u dont need a big chuck on most rock marks so u wont be snapping of casting out . if u go to 40 the waves catch ure line and ure rod tip is bouncing alover . 30/35lb sensor is spot on. and stick with the standard slosh, just dont forget to put the brakes in when u get it theyl be in the box in a little paket.

I once tried to fit a slosh30 to a KWR and found that the standard KWR reel seat was to big.
