  • Greys Gmag 7 problems

I have a Gmag 7 its been nothing but bother since I bought it from Greys i have had it 2 years and only been able to use it 5 times, itb been back to greys twice ,and is going back again tommorow !!!!!!!!!!!
the anti-reverse gives up and the handle swings round and nearly smashes your knuckles, I have 2 mates and they have had bother with the same reel.
Has anyone else had bother with this reel?
or smocks like a watering can ?
or rods breaing easily, has greys sea gear gone back hard? looks like it!

yes I have had problems too with the GMAG 7 had to sent it back to Greys because the reel frame badly corroded around the reel seat. they sent a new one out, havn't used it yet!

Had problems with my 6 but the 7 is fine and used it in summer to pull in loads of cod off the boat.

6 is fine now tho and as for the smocks and rods no problems at all with mine.
Know of a lad that snapped his greys rod but it was all his own fault and he got it replaced within days for £40

I know another lad who's NEW Conoflex Anubis snapped while fishing and was going to cost a canny bit more to replace that.

LOL could see the comments a mile away

for the record I have never had any problems with my greys rod or know of peeps who have - same with the clothing

so in my personal and humble opinion the "rumours" that go around are a veritable crock

Al deny u said that mate, av got a Greys Mk3 Apollo, quality piece of kit. The only problem with them now is that they are built in china or where-ever and the high build isnt very good. Still very nice and quality rods though...

Must just be a problem with people I fish with using there gear wrong then ? I have used both greys and hardy gear for years for all types of fishing including fly and predetor and always found the gear to be spot on.
I have had two appollo smocks that were like watering cans, but a greys grx wading jacket that has had more abuse but doesnt let water in.
The carry on with the reel is beyond a joke !! super for casting but so stripped of quality parts from the original design to save money!!!! this comes from a bloke who helped design it !! (maybe why you can buy them for half the price now).
With living next to and having mates at the factory, and having lads I fish with that also have the same problems with Greys gear OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS since production was taken abroad, thought it could be a wide spread
problem, but seems like were getting mixed views but I have defo been put off by the perormance of greys SEA TACKLE over the last few years,

y deny i said it? all greys rods ( sea ) are now total chinese ****e . they aint like the old appolos or shadows etc. and them g mags are just cheap put together rubish. that is why they are 60 quid brand new now. also i no alot of carp anglers who bought the greys x flights etc for good money and sold them and went back to the trusted centurys. this is my oppinion !

I've snapped three greys longboat rods this summer, all in the same place with little weight on.I'd never snapped a rod in my life prior to that. I use a 5 year old triplex on the beach and it's great, maybe there's something in the recent quality issues Craig.
