This is only a personal preference, but the Mk2 greys apollo is absoluty ****e. Av herd ov that many snapping it put me off greys rods altogether.
Then I purchased the Mk3 apollo, and that was and ever since it has continued to impress me. As my mate MAKO said, the high build isnt of the best quality, but the new Mk3 rod itself is a stunning piece of kit.
Remember, this is just my opinion, its up to u on wat u want to buy mate, but a hope this helps your decisionSouth Shields & District SAC

the mk 1 is the best in my opinion. the high build cracks on them as i believe they add a additive then blast them with light to make it go off quick with them being mass pro rods this makes the high build quite brittle.it is not rust on the guides as some people think as the fuji guides are made of marine grade stainless steel i,ve been told it is some sought of algea bloom that is in the sea water and it dries out like the colour of rust i no when i ,ve stripped the rods down for a rebuild the guides have been fine just a good clean up if they are not bent or damaged in anyway how many times do you here off zippys and century snapping plus all the tournament lads tend to use the latter.Rodbuilding & rod repairs

Originally posted by makonot a good choice m8,they always have problems with the rings they rust and the wipping cracks off,i know you get a life time guarantee but you dont need to keep sending it back to the makers all the time as it does cost u 30 quid a time, ive sent 4 back in past 2 yrs, so save your self the grief and buy conoflex or something ziplex
Mk3 is the best Appollo by far, great fishing rods, cast well and will handle any ground also show bites and have lots of feel to them. I use one myself along with an m427 or eliminator for long range casting.
Zziplex are great rods, the dogs for casting but there are only a couple suitable for our coastline (M427, XTR or LT Bullet). As a good allround NE FISHING ROD the Appollo or Soniks take some beating. Very similar rods. Sonik slightly heavier action on the tip, Appollo slightly slimmer and better bite detection. Centurys and conoflex and AFAW rods are all good but for the money the Greys or Soniks are spot on.

I'm still using my mk1 that I bought 9 years ago.sure it's had some hammer over the years and I had the butt section replaced after I slipped and fell on it when it was in the stand, but it's brought me many an hour of happiness and I feel supremely confident with my Apollo....And I 've hauled two doublers through some of the roughest NE marks with it!"And I looked, and behold'a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was death, and hell followed with hi, and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger, and with the beasts of the earth"
