  • Recommendations for a mixed ground rod?

Looking to buy a new rod, preferably around £200 though could go a little higher. Mostly beach/pier/river fishing with the odd session off the rocks. Any advice appreciated.

Sonik SK4, can't recommend them highly enough. Fish all the ground you want and excellent bite detection.

A post on another thread says that the Grey's Factory Shop in Alnwick has the Apollo Mk2 for £99, half the price of the SK4. I'm a bit confused now!

Just my view but didn't like the Apollo MK2, MK1 was great. However you wanted a rod for mixed ground, river etc and the Apollo more aimed at heavy ground. The newer models although for heavier work are slimmer, lighter and are much more sensitive. Picked up and felt bites for whiting and flats etc but also landed 17lb conger.

have to agree with SK4 - for your budget you'll get a great rod that will handle all sorts
                      Ooh a new vid!

Thanks for all your suggestions - the SK4 seems very popular. Looking on the web, this costs around 220. I can't help thinking that for a little bit more I could have a Kompressor or Reelsport Response (or similar). Should I spend that bit extra??

at the end of the day it's your choice - you'll find a lot of potato-potarto comments on here as some peeps will only ever go with one brand because they heard rumours off a friends dog about another brand

there'll be peeps who rave about the response only for someone else to say it's not their thing...same with Greys, Sonik, Zippys etc etc

go into a shop and have a look and then go with your gut feeling
