There’s plenty of places to fish, exactly where will depend on the tide and sea state. Starting to the south, the corner where the prom meets Whitley beach will fish an hour or so either side of high tide, the rougher the better. The rocks from there to the island itself are little fished but can be OK at low water when there’s not much movement.
The island is accessible from about an hour and a half after high tide; if it is calm then this is a good time to walk to the island, turn left past the toilets and fish the corner, casting back towards Hartley. If it’s rough avoid it.
When the tide is further out, some people like the back of the island but I’ve not had much from there.
As the tide drops, the skeer at west bay starts to uncover; that’s the one to the north of the causeway, fish there from a couple of hours before low water, ideally when it’s rough. The ebbing tide fishes best. Walk along the skeer, you may need to wade the short section to get to it before the tide drops. Once on it, head about half way along and cast back towards Hartley again.
At high water, the rocks just to the north of the causeway, called the Bibles can fish if it’s not too rough.
There’s plenty of other choices to fill the gaps but these are the places that work for me.
