Planning on fishing Lynemouth for the first time tomorrow evening. Never fished there before, can anyone let me know what the bottom is like so I know what gear to take? Looks like a relatively clean beach but don't want to turn up with my baitcasters and 15lb line to end up getting snagged and losing my gear every chuck.

    cheers

I've lost a good few fish through snags, be it kelp or rock. I would recommend rotten bottoms and a decent rough ground reel. Having said that I only fish one part of the beach.

I would park your car at the Alcan power stn car park. It's a bit of a walk down to the beach. If you want to use the light gear, I would head north along the beach past the pipe and blocks and past crosswaters and fish Lyneburn as there are less snags there. Good luck.
