Where are you planning on fishing with it?
The 6500 holds more than enough line for clean beach work, .35mm (15 - 18lb) is plenty strong enough. The Penn won't hold that much more TBH, then again I use my 525 with 15lb line off the end of Shields pier and it does the job fine.
If you are fishing into the rocks and kelp then a Slosh 30 size with 35lb line straight through may be a better bet; you certainly won't get much 35lb line on a 6500 or a 525 for that matter.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

hi in my humble opinion i'd go with the slosh.I look at it this way you can use a slosh on the rocks...you can use a slosh on the beach you may not get the same distance as a penn with it on the beach but you can pick them up cheap and are nice reel. i'd opt for the slosh. But thats just my opinionLast edited by endurothumpers; 23-10-2010, 05:59 AM.

The slosh 30 in my opinion is a good choice.Ive used mine for a year now and wouldnt change it for anything else.Good sterdy reel for the rock edges.Mind you thats on a conoflex nemesis plus + which would pull the titanic up!!! lol...The only fish i want this year is a double figured cod!!!
