    Does wd40 a could lubricant for your reel? i have seen a bloke on roker pier cast out ans when he brings it back in he slowly adds little drops to his line....does it help?

    Jonny, WD40 is good for cleaning your reel after a session (good for driving moisture / salt water out) but its too thin to use as a lubricant. You need something heavier like Rocket Fuel or EP90 gear oil for the bearings or you risk nesting it big style.

    Apparently WD40 is sometimes sprayed on to bait as an attractant, never tried it myself though.

      Jonny I \'ve been using Whale Spit as a lube,as Rob says some people use it as bait additive but not sure why he would spray it on his line

        ME neither that is why i posted it alan. I thought it may have made his cast smoother?

              I\'ve heard that the fish are attracted to the mineral oils which wd40 is based on , not so sure myself like.
              You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

                  I does work i was fishin on a boat off hartlepool earlier on in the year identical rigs to the bloke next to me but he was using the stuff on his fresh mackeral(great oil slicks) and was baggin and me not doing well at all - borrowed his tin and started to catch fish straight away.
                  give a man a fish and feed him for a day - teach the man to fish and feed him for life!!!!

                        always keep a tin in me box to spray the line if it starts biting on the reel problem is i spend all night sniffing me reel
