  • new century lost, tynemouth :@

got a new rod today, was chuffed with it, a second hand century kompressor s for 100 pound. went down to tynemouth longsands fished with it caught afew collies, small schoolie and a rockling. 5 mins after my last cast whilst im putting all my bait rubbish in a bag tripod falls over, i must of only been looking away from rods for 10 seconds and i turned around to see my new century rod nowere in sight. spent half an hour looking up and down beach for it in the dark but didnt find it completley gutted, just my luck, first expensive rod i get and i loose it in less than a day.

if anyone one finds it please let me know, i will be back down tomorow looking for it but doubt ill find it.

was there much weed about?.could that have pulled it in.its worth looking at first light,as the tide drops back down it might turn up.were you at the slope near the pool, could it have been pulled in by one of the lads fishing from the pool if your lines got crossed.put it up on world sea fishing forum and british sea anglers incase someone finds it.good luck when you go down, hope you get it back.

am on beach quite often with the dog, will keep and eye out especially when the bigger tides comes, in front where you have lost it there are quite a few rocks and weed beds, would think line will get snagged somewhere then you will be able to retrieve the monster fish that dragged your gear in. Check your home insurance you might be able to claim through that, sports equipment. have you got a contact number in case it turns up.

sorry to hear about your rod mate, what i would do is take another rod down with a grip lead and cast up and down the beach, you never know you may catch the line with your grip lead.

good chance its been a good fish m8, happend 2 me on blyth beach 1's dragged my rod down the beach but got it back with no fish.
chances r where u were fishing u have slatey gut 2 the left of u & 2 the right of u the bears head that r both quite deep marks close 2 the rocks & u can bet ya bottom doller ya rod is trapped up in 1 or other because with the swells all the food gets trapped in these holes so u just never know m8 only thing is u will need the much bigger tides 2 check these marks unless u get a rope with a bit heavy chain on it & just bend some nails in2 little hooks on the chain & graple these marks. good chance of hooking it with reel & line ect.
very best of luck m8 i hope u get it back.

Walked the beach this morning with the dog, noticed quit a lot of kelp near the swimming pool, some of it in quite big bunches, so was probably the reason for your rod loss. Didn't know at the time there'd been a rod lost, so will now keep my eyes peeled

i went over onto slatley gut and south crab hill sunday morning but didnt see it. theres lots of weed around the skeers so its probaly traped in there. will check again when the tides are bigger, thanks
