  • What Bass rod ?

I'm using a Grey's BZE Bass rod at present, and have had quite good results with it, when teamed up with a fixed spool reel. Although it casts well, I can't realy 'get away' with fixed spool reels (apart from spinning or float fishing).
The BZE is a lovely rod, but I find it quite 'soft'. What I am after is a 'Bass' rod capable of casting up to 4 ozs with a much stiffer action, but 'tippy', which I can use with a small multiplier.
I'm not an expert when it comes to rod choice, so if anyone can reccomend such a rod, then I would be very grateful.
    Many thanks.

Might sound stupid but have you tried the BZe with a small multiplier. My mate has one and it's fine for fishing up to 4oz.

Alternative I use a Daiwa Supercast Bass. Love it, light ledgering for flatties, whiting, pout etc or heavier spinning or floating for pollack and wrasse.

i use an abu 5000 or my small okuma multiplyer on a conoflex assassain and that can cast a 1 oz weight or lure, to 3 1/2 ozs and up to 80 yds + as long as wind is not in face and a find a 2 1/2oz weight ideal. so as one of the replies said try your bze first it might save you having to buy another rod

The BZE 12ft 6 version is ideal for whacking 4oz out, much more power than the shorter version. If money is no object try a zziplex profile or a tip tornado ld.

I use a 13ft penn affinity bass myself and it will cast up to 5oz at a pinch. lovely slim rod but no longer made.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Seems like I am goon'a try and get a Century Tip Tornado Ultalite. Had a look at one today in ID Tackle, and it 'feels' perfect for my needs. Must admit, I wouldn't have thought about this rod 'till it was reccomended on here, so thanks again to everyone who took time to reply.
Once I buy one I will probabaly team it up with an ABU 6500 model (or similar size reel).
                    Cheers................BAZACODBASHA
