Penn Reels, freespool problem

How do everyone.

I've had an issue with my 515 Mag2 in that when you take it out of freespool the spool feels like it is rubbing something or that the pinion has not engaged properly.
It doesnt happen everytime. Its about a year old. I've just got a brand new Fathom & that is the same, the only thing Ive done to the fathom is clean the Blue grease out, same as the 515. Could that be the problem?

Cheers.

check magnets not moved that used be problem some mag 1s, if so, just needs a little super glue to keep em in place

or maybe a bit grit in. if so just needs cleaning

Its a common problem with mag 2s and fathom it takes a while for it to engage for some reason, but doesn't do it if there is tension on the spool, mag 2 magnets are not like the mk1s, its one magnet block on mag2s where as the mag1s have 4-6 small circle individual magnets depending on model, the blue Grease has no effect on the reel except speed, i used to leave the blue grease in mine and just flush the bearings, if the pinion does not re engage under tention, then the bearing could be seized, common fault on the mag1 for the fact not many people clean them,if your stuck i could strip it and have a look for you

Another problem I've had in the past is the magnets on the mag2's is rusting pushing the cover against the spool just done a 535mag2 other week had done this was only 6 months old.
