It\'s just that having not done much fishing down there if I go south of the Tyne and my chosen spot won\'t fish it\'s nice to have a back up plan.
If you fish up here and you have anything from big the north you have lots of spots you can still fish easily and safely.
Drove past Whitley beach today and it was a cracking sea go to the north end and there was little more than a ripple. Much the same with Blyth beach.

      Jim.

Good luck Keith mate. It was still quite heavy last night pulling us well down the beach at times. Still dissapointed there were no fish looking at the conditions.

              Jim.

Shall I tell you what I think Jim. Having fished Seaton Sluice beach over the years and caught good bags of fish and also caught nothing I am happy in my own mind that the beach and its paralell to the shore gullies do not hold any fish, like some beach marks do. All you have are fish, and often a lot of fish, passing through and if you\'re there on the right tide you catch them. If not you don\'t.
I fished Tynemouth beach one winter morning, low tide about 5am, and caught a couple of codling in the Barge Bottom. At the bottom of the tide 2 guys came down and lifted a long line they\'d dropped between the Barge and the Toilets the tide before. They had 2 fish one double figures. Nowhere near a hole and again I suspect fish passing through. So you pays your money..................

I certainly wouldn\'t argue with that David, it would certainly explain things at the Sluice. As you say sometimes it is a cracking spot.

Like that last week. Fishing similar baits and rigs to my mates who bag up I get one. They came in little flurries, a few in a few chucks then nothing for 30 mins or so. Sea not as big the next night but me and a lad getting whiting about equally but he gets 2 codling in between and I get bass, coalie and flounder. Rigs were a bit different this time so makes you wonder how subtle the difference has to be.

When I used to fish club matches on the north end of Blyth beach it was amazing how many times I caught 2 or 3 fish in the last 15 minutes of the comp. I think it was more than coincidence as it happened too often. Started making a few notes on it and still stay very alert and always have a spare rig hanging on me rod stand at certain times of the tide Peter. Strange when I think about it , never happened at the Sluice end though.

                      Jim.

I gave up after a couple of hours, like you say Jim, the line was just getting pulled down the beach! I had intended moving to the river, but my mind wondered to my case of fosters chilling in the fridge on the way, just swigging my first can now to warm me up!
                        Cheers, Keith.

I often move a couple of hundred yards along the beach, sometimes further,if my line is getting ripped along, especially bad at Blyth for some reason.
                          Cheers Alan...

Gutted mate I was hoping you were going to sign in tonight and say you had had a great night.
Havn\'t a clue where to go on Monday. Might try Tynemouth or Whitley bay beaches. Thanks for the report though.
Anyone out fishing on Monday night go to the Sluice beach cos if I\'m not there the Cod will be this year lol.

                            Jim.

As I was getting my gear out the car, a guy leaving was saying he reckons it will fish better tomorrow night. I\'m at the match tomorrow, but might try again on monday!

btw, I found a blue rod bag on the beach if anyone has lost one???
                                Cheers, Keith.
