Not looking too promising XCWeather - Forecast for Newbiggen
Horrible situation for the committee, whatever they decide some people will be unhappy but at the end of the day safety has to be the number one priority. Problem is you can't call it too soon just in case the weather changes, the wind drops and the conditions are perfect - it is a fine line between spot-on and unfishable.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

I doubt it mate. Theres loads of places u could fish safely...
It's nothing like souh of the Tyne where I wave(let) spoils all the fishing....
Just be sensible.Last edited by Cod,cod, cod!; 23-09-2010, 05:33 PM.The 'five plums!' Northumberland sea league champions.

Fair comment but if 300 anglers turn out will there be enough safe marks for them all to fish? What about those people who chance their arm and fish an unsafe mark? Looking at the forecast the seas are going to be massive, I don't know the area well and am happy to be proved wrong but I do worry about peoples safety in the likely conditions.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

As a general rule best times to fish are as the sea is dieing off after a blow so Monday night should be perfect (and I'm working ) Though as cod cod cod says there are marks you can fish in a big sea, but you need to know where they are and be very confident in what you are doing.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

i will give you a qucik weather report for today, im in the middle of the north sea offshore.
its as flat as a japs face out here at the moment.
no wind, foggy and not even a swell.
things can change in 30mins mind you lol
they wont commit to calling off a comp until the very last minute, it has happened a few times in the past, but not very often.
as a rough guide, the swell sizes etc from online weather reports are based from info offshore, the swell wont be that big inshore.
we get weather reports from various locations in the north sea, norway, greenland and iceland, i log into the system and watch a boring as fook bloke talk for 10mins everymorning and night for the weather forecast, he sits in a weather station somewhere in norway for shell, gives you a prediction of wind direct, speed, swell size etc.
just a shame a cant get that when im at home, gives you a heads up on the sea states etc.
just checked it now and it dosnt mention any change tonight.
