My mate has this prob too, he has a cast/support on his foot prmanently. He wants to dig too but obviosly his cast is not mud/waterproof and without the cast it is too painfull to put wellies on!

So we are gonna try putting a heavy rubble sack( not garden bags, too thin) the type you use to put half bricks in etc. put it over his cast and either tape on or use one of those elastic roof rack ties to keep it on. don't know how long it will last before wearing through but they are cheap enough to buy.

Wont look like a fashion queen but hope this helps.

Same thing happened to an old mate of mine many years ago, got his leg in a cast and the doctors wouldn't fit one of those heel things as he wasn't supposed to be walking on it at all. So out came the rubble bags, 2 taped over the cast, wader on the other leg and oilskins over the lot. He managed ok wading about, even getting over the rocks, but the bags did wear through and he kept ending up with a soggy foot.

After a few visits to get the plaster re-fitted, on the one occasion the doctor quizzed him about the amount of sand in the cast around the foot: "must be the builders next door, they've got a pile of sand outside, must have picked some up..." my mate told them. "Ok, but what about these lumps of seaweed?" asked the doc. Cracks me up just remembering.....
