I use 25lb Ultima Titanium on my 525 its rrp is 14.99 but shop around and you can find it cheaper , its the same thickness as most 20lb lines and is very strong and smooth to cast with. dont think its very good for rock fishing but fine for piers and river beach etc, cuts through the tide nicely.

60lb shocker, just buy a cheaper 4oz spool of 60lb line half the price of shock leader does the same and you will have plenty, use a tappered shock leader knot, do a normal granny knot with the shockleader around the main line, then twist the main line 7 times up and around the shockerleader line, then twist in 4 times back down, pass it through the loop above the granny knot, wet it and pull tight cut the tag ends off sorted.

Sufix, spider hitch

I think I must of tried just about every line at one time or another and sufix has to be my favorite in all breaking strains, sits nicely on the spool,knots well, and come of the spool without any drama. I have to say that i'm not a fan of sensor strong it maybe, but then it should be it's like mooring rope. As for leader knots the spider hitch is fairly easy to tie, has a bit of give-so very strong.

I was always told to fish by diameter for both heavy ground and clean to mixed ground. Mooring ropes a bit of an exageration but it is thicker than other lines on average .02mm. I find the 15lb at .37mm ideal for clean to mixed ground as i think the little bit extra thickness gives you a bit more abrasion resistance, same applys to the heavier stuff for heavy ground. Dont see the point in getting a 30lb class line that is the diameter of 20lb line, its defeating the object really isnt it, as the whole point of using heavier line over rough ground is to combat the rocks and weed ?

The line thickness wasn't the problem for me I could deal with that, it's characteristics reminded me of the old bayer perlon "strong as tow rope" it took forever to settle on the spool because it wasn't very supple and would bounce up repeatedly during casting. I'm not having a go it's just my opinion that it's not a pleasant line to fish with.

best lo diameter line

I use nothing but "ghost line" from Profish,a few shops in the N/E stock it, it has never let me down, from rock marks i use 30lb straight through.

You won't be disappointed if you try it and it has a very low diameter so i can get plenty on my Penn Mags.

I have just done a search on google for "fishing ghost line" and the link "lure fishing angling lines mono true abrasion resistant resistance" shows it comes out top on abrasion resistance!
