I am currently using an LED headlamp which is fine for baiting up etc, but isn't brilliant. I know everyone is raving about these cree headlamps, but am going to invest in a decent headlamp. I have looked at Lenser H7, Tiga and Samalite and I can see good and bad points with all of these. What do you find best? Consider a good second hand one if anyone has 1, please PM me.

For the last couple of years I've been using the Speleo Anglers Headlight which is pretty much identical to the old miners headlamps that a lot of the lads used to "borrow" back when we had a mining industry. Good rugged lamp, very bright beam but the battery pack weighs a ton.
I'm thinking of treating myself to a Princeton Apex soon, heard nothing but good reports about them. Very bright for an LED and good battery life running on rechargeable AA batteries.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

with rechargeable batteries go for 2700 or 2800mah strength otherwise you'll find the batteries will only really last one session - I use the 2700s and they can last me at least a couple of tripsOoh a new vid!

Got a Lenser H7 that I use for beaches, proms & piers etc & it's spot on - got a couple of sets of re-chargeables from Maplins and reckon on 10-12 sessions before I need to change the batteries. Mind you, I only use it on about one third power most of the time as it's pretty bright, and only really for baiting up, retrieving & pouring cups of coffee. So small & light that when worn over a hat you completely forget that it's there.
For all my rock-hopping it's a Tiga all the way - lead acid battery is a bit bulky but managed to wangle one of those nice light, compact batteries which makes life much easier. Wouldn't be without it on many of the marks that I fish.

LED Lenser H7 is a crackin headlamp for the money. I have 1 and use it on the piers / proms. I have a Tiga that is like a light house that I'll use on the rocks and beaches. The H7 would be alright on the beaches but the Tiga gives off a wider light beam.
