Can this be done? I've heard so many mixed opinions on this matter! I was going to take the spinning rod in addition to my beach caster next time I'm out fishing at night? I've got a few glow in the dark poppers and a few sidewinders, are they any good?
Night spinning would work in my opinion, especially for pollock since they have excellent vision anyway. You have also got vibration/movement on your side. I can only assume that fish hunt by scent and vibration over sight.
Would like to see peoples opinions on this though
Me and Jim were talking about it awhile ago, we found a page with 100's of glow in the dark lures, jelly and shads. We ordered the stuff to find the shop was apparently out of business lol

Species: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it
Iv'e caught bass useng BLACK artificial sand eels in the middle of the night when it's been pitch black. Don't think us humans appreciate how different a fish's vission is compared to ours. Certainly they pick up vibrations in the water as well.
If you know of a mark that holds preditory fish like bass or pollack it is certainly worth a try. When the fish are there they will certainly take a lure during darkness, but don't be put off if you don't get any takes. Either the fish won't be in that spot, or they aren't feeding.
Good luck.
Maybe if there is a full moon and clear skys and clear water you might pick up fish all it take is for the the fish to see a litle flash off the spinner and it will go for it like snaggeduplad has said try glow worms, lures ect.
We have had pollack on spinners just as it is getting dark.
Glow in the dark lures and moonlight are simply not needed. Black/dark lures retrieved slowly will catch you the fish. A few exceptional lure anglers I know dont go down until after its dark.
i was talkn to my pal the day who is a diver, and he says the lyks of beads and attractions gt to b sum sort of a myth because at certain depths(not very deep either) the colours lose thy colour in the water summit to do with spectrum o sum crap and apparently the only colours which can b really visible is eluminous pink o violet....

To the human eye, yes. But how do fish see colours at depth?

Any advice would be great!

It certainly can be done, two rules I always stick to though - no lights and be quiet. If you're targetting an area where Bass are likely then you may well be pleasantly suprised. No need for luminous lures just go black or something really dark (black/purple/dark blue work well). Also really slow things right down. I've caught on hard lures in the dark but not, as yet, on soft plastics. Also if you do need to use a light do not shine it onto/across the water, fatal imo. I made the mistake of doing it once to change over a lure and that was it, end of fish.

Reason: added
i dunno about beads as a visual attractant but i think in the water they cause more vibro then anything else..just my opinion . i have seen advertised in rags about glo worm etc taking big pollack .....coincidence perhaps that the fish took a luminous thing ? having said that an angler fish uses light to attract its prey so ....who knows really ..
