Had a pair of Grade 1 German army para boots for 12 years still going strong, comfy to walk in, coupled with a pair of thermal hiking socks and my feet stay toasty all night - mind I don't go jumping in and out of the surf in them but they are waterproof up to mid shin height. Best bit is you can get them from army surplus shops for around £20Here fishy, fishy!

Iv'e been using Derri boots for the last few years and they do the job perfectly and they havn't worn down at all, and keep ya feet nice and warm.
But a pair of 5mm Neoprene chesties will keep ya warm as well on a cold winter beach, but nee good for walking any distance cos you will end up soaked in sweat. It's a thin line that seperates an Angler from a madman standing on the beach in january at midnight in -5 degrees with a northerly wind blowing in your face
