  • Sourcing Lead For Moulds?

    Hi Guys,

Anyone know where I can source lead in the Blyth/Ashington area? What's the going rate for it these days per kg? I'm just going to start making my own weights on my return to the UK but my mates are saying that not all scrap yards sell it? Any advice on sourcing and making your own would be great! I'm currently looking at some of the moulds on Gerry's of Morecambe.

    Cheers, Mike

try scrap yards metal merchants or keep a look out in skips outside people throw loads of stuff away from houses.

going rate down here is £1.25/KG
By the time ya buy and melt it ya'll loose some as it'll be covered in dirt, + 10p for ya grip wires, maybe 5-10p for ya eye + ya time and burned fingers it doesn't work out too cheap
Plenty people sell them done at around 50p/ lead.
Different kettle of fish tho if ya getting lead for nowt

ask around some building sites, they might have scraps of flashing.
