I am looking for a beach rod as the one i have at the min, waves about in a light breeze,so i am looking for a rod with a bit of stability. A local second hand shop has 3 rods in. please tell me if they might suit my needs or are crap.
    Power storm surfseeker 12ft 4-6oz. £20
    Hardy surfcaster 12ft 4-7 oz £45
    Ron Thompson zenoflex 4-8oz. £20
If these are no good, i have about £80 to spend so can anyone suggest anything please.

Another 10er will buy you a new Rovex beachcaster mate. Same rod basically as a ron thompson axcellerator but lighter. They look a canny bit of kit for the money

I think second hand is the way to go on your budget. I think its just a case of being patient and the right rod will come up.

Be patient and look around. I picked up a Mk 1 TT Sport in very good nick off ebay a couple of months ago for just £87, there are plenty of bargains out there if you can afford to wait for them.

Is the mk1 still stiff then or has the tip gone soft? thats the only problem with early centurys.

Not an old old one, its autoclaved and still plenty stiff enough. Remember it's only a couple of years since they brought out the Mk 2, the lad was selling this one as he'd given up fishing.

get yourself down to the beach and have a shuftie at what others are using, see if you can have a cast with a couple , not every good rod will suit you, flexing in a shop does not tell you how they feel with a reel and terminal tackle on either, dont go for a very stiff rod if you cant put the technique in that it needs to compress it, you wont be able to cast as far a you can with a more forgiving rod
