Been meaning to post this for ages, sorry for the lads who asked months ago.
Setup 1
35 or 50g Wychwood control float (not cheap, around 8 quid for 2)
6" Holgraphic sidewinder shimmer eel, 3/0 540 manta tied onto 30lb amnesia around 6 - 8ft. Connected to a standard barrel swivel. This is the actual hook length that is attatched to your main line. Run main line through swivel on the float and through a small bead to protect the knot. Tie knot to other end of barrel swivel. The float runs free and there is no need for a stop knot. On casting the hook length will just hang behind the float, don't worry though this will not tangle when casting (I know this surprised me also) or when retrieving. Slowly reel the float back in and the flaot will creat a bow wave, 6ft behind that the imitation eel will sit just below the surface. This rig is excellent over very shallow rough ground and will take bass and pollock even in the dark. The takes are breathtaking, usually involving the fish taking the eel clean out of the water.
Setup 2 Buldo 35g control float.
Set up is exactly the same as above, as is the actual use of this float. Bubble floats and kids rubber power balls can also be used.
