  • Ebb Tide Marks

Early days I know but looking at the forecast the sea is going to be away Thursday / Friday with eastery then northerly winds before it swings back westerly on Saturday. Looking at the tides HT is about 6:30pm on Saturday with LT at about half midnight.

Can anyone recommend me a venue between Hartlepool and say Lynmouth that fishes on the ebb to try Saturday night? When I was a bairn I only really fished the colliery beaches and that was on the flood tide so not really clued up on places to fish the tide down. Open beach marks preferred as I don't really fancy trying a rock mark in the dark for the first time

    cheers

I wouldnt advise going onto rock marks in the dark alone even if experienced! canbois ramp tends to fish best on the ebb but is a fair old distance to drive, only to blank. I'll be fishing it tonight so i'll let you know how it goes, with all this cod being caught at other places I'm going to give it a go. think I'll take a spade for the rats! cambois ramp is famous for them.

You could always give the Middens Beach at North shields a shot. Fish a gripper with a longish flowing trace - Bait choice rag, mackerel, prawn or a cocktail, cast straight out 45-60yds and follow the tide down the beach to avoid the seaweed. Coalies, Dabs, the odd plaice, codling and occasionally the odd sizeable crab or lobster. Great for a sheltered winter venue as well.
      Here fishy, fishy!

Update, well fished the ramp last neet and got 2 coalies and two flatties. missed a load more and topped it off by snapping a new rod( pile of crap).
No rats this time, mate caught nowt but chucking for miles where I was just 30 yard lob owing to having to use my spinning rod I had in car!.....lesson learned, and imprinted on brain..do not chuck over the fish!

Thanks for the replies. Forecast has eased considerably now anyway - from 18mph E-NE winds to 7mph. Not even enough to get a tiny bit of surf going really.

Ah well plenty of months to go for the cod fishing anyway, might spend a day in the sun at Horden trying again for that elusive Thornback
