i was in my local tackle shop the other day looking at the new slosh, i was told not to buy it as its not as well balanced as the old one, it wobbles quite badly when reeling in. hope this helps.

Hi mate I had a SL20 SHA, moved it on pretty sharpish as I didn't get on with it. Especially annoying was the clicking noise as you reeled in, though they may have got rid of that with the SHX.

The knew ones are better casting i think but like the gent said before it rocks when winding so i would just stick to the old one. I have the old vesion like yourself and i think they are spot on, cast very well and are rubust. Lets face it they have stood the test of time so if its not broke why fix it . People say that they lock up when under load but so do other high speed retrieve reels just wind a bit slower. I've used them for years and i love them they have never let me down.
        Hope this helps

i have one mate, and have owned the older original version as well.

there is no doubt the new gold spool one runs faster... but i find this makes it blow up it you realy give it rizz... - i have to put 2 red brake blocks in mine.

where as the older one with one red brake block in was totally safe, no matter if you were off the ground, brighton or pendulam casting....

so yes, the lighter spool does make a differece and runs faster than the original slosh.. but it does make it a bit more "firery jack"

I own both of these reels and this may sound daft but i find the original better for night fishing and the new version for days, probably because the older version is a lot more forgiving and not much thumbing is needed, where as the new one can practically take your thumb off when thumping it out, and is harder to control in the dark, i personally dont use any blocks on mine.
