Mick have a look here : Fishing-Argyll - Loch Etive

Or here for boat hire : TFC Boats, boat hire and fishing on Loch Etive in Taynuilt near Oban Scotland

Also WSF has innumerable Loch Etive reports.

Fish baits seem to be the order of the day. Hope you have a great trip.
2016 - Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Gurnard, Ling, Mackerel, Saithe, Scorpian fish. .

Don't forget the midgie repellant, this time of year you risk being eaten alive

3ft long normal paternoster rigs with 4 inches of wire or heavy braid on the hook length as the Spurs will bite through even 80lb mono.Strong 3/0 hooks.
Best bait by far for the Spurs and Thornies is a 2 inch piece of Launce Sandeel with a strip of Squid lashed to it.
Big tides are always better as well.
As for insect repellent, this is the best we have found.

Fished there quite abit over the last few years, also going up aug bank hol myself. we usually fish along bonawe quarry. Its really deep straight down the edge. Weve had many species from there spurs and rays on mackerel and squid. Pollock and sea trout on spinners and also gurnard, cod, whiting, lsd etc. we found that a string of baited hokkis lobbed into the middle about 80 yards is more then enough, its so deep and dark, they seem to like the illuminous glow of the heads... its about 500ft deep in places! you will have more luck for the spurs after dark, but all other species anytime. Also there are the self drive boats from TFC Boats, boat hire and fishing on Loch Etive in Taynuilt near Oban Scotland. good luck and enjoy.

The deepest part of the loch is just to the left of the quarry,460ft.
