Fished over the Scottish border again, today with The Buffs Surfcaster. Upon arrival there was a pesky Northerly breeze and it was quite grey.
First chuck I managed to gut hook this very near 2lb coalie.
Ron meantime was having fun with double coalies on a pennel rig. Couple of casts later and I manage to sneak this 4lb 1oz cod out.
Shortly followed by another of 4lb 3oz. We were plagued by coalies for a good while after and I was caught in the act too

The mackerel showed up moments later, with most of them around 2lb and fighting hard. By now our bag weight was creeping up.
Ron then pulls in this hefty pollock.
I told Ron where the wrasse were and prompltly showed him how to catch one.
Or two
As the tide started to push the sun made an appearance and the wind vanished. We moved to another mark and continued to catch using various methods. We had a load of mackerel, even more small coalies and pollock. The odd pollock were a better size and I managed to bag a couple more wrasse.
Ron also pulling in this handsome "Kelpy"
We ended the day with well over 100 fish between us using bait, spinners, floats etc. Most of the fish were returned but I have managed to get some fish back in the freezer
Excellent fishing, excellent weather, excellent craic...... wasn't a bad day
Cheers, Ron!!
