does anywhere near south shields sell shrink tube. the reelseat is making my shrinktube move when under pressure so it think some new tubeing might sort it out, or will it be better to glue the reelseat to the rod it self and not put shrink tube on it.

and how is the best way to put shrink tube on to my rod, iv just tried goin over the stuff on the rod with boiling water but it still moves abit

Best to have the reel seat directly on the blank. Heat gun is the best way to go with shrink tube.

lots of people make the same mistake the trick with shrinktube is to pull & stretch it at the same time sometimes a 2 man job this will stop the reelseat slipping but as bigman says use a heatgun

i was thinkin of taking the butt and reelseat to chi at reelsport but its an apollo i dont think woodsy would touch it lol might give him a bell first to see what he says and get him to put the reelseat on aswell. just dont want to end up doin it me self then the reelseat start moving again, i super glued it on the shrink tube last night and couldnt fir no selotape under it. its tight just sliding the reel seat on. was a hard job gettin it off again.

in 2 mind wether to put it directly on the blank and get sum karakal grips or to try putting it on the shrinktube again, the was loads of white dots under my tubing i guess its salt that got under it and made it lose its grips to the blank, i cleaned it all up now tho cheers everyone for the advise

try a hair dryer on hottest setting hold off about a 12in,away from tube and move dryer slowly closer moving it from right to left and vice versa continuous over slack part that should correct it , if that does not work it will probably need a bit direct heat, and again start off well awy from tube and gradullly get closer till it shrinks but be careful and take you time, because some shrink tube needs mor heat than others as i have found out in past depending where a bought shrink tube from

well iv been and bought some shrink tube and some karakal grips and araldite, im just thinking wether to put the shrink tube on then the reel seat on top, or put the reelseat on the butt then put shrink tube around it.

the reel seat was very tight on the shrink tube i last had on and hardly move, so if i put my new shrink tube on would the araldite get underneath the seat or would the seat push all the araldite upwards and make a right mess and not get a good grip?

if the reel seat is tight with shrink tube on just use electrians tape to hold in place or buy a talon reel seat for about £20 imho the best reel seat Ive used to date
