  • long lines of nets

up at caravan for a few days and although the sea had picked up and was coloured thought id try pluggin anyway(got nowt).fished one afternoon off a local beach (northumberland) a couple of hours upto high water,a boat turns up(like a big rowing boat with canvas bit at the front)2 blokes in boat and they start putting a net out from about 30 yards from beach going straight out to sea for about 150-200 yards then they put a bit along the top to make like a t shape, then they come back in and add a bit more net going to about 10 yards off the beach, then back out to the t part and just sat there for ages(the net looked about 3-4 ft deep).as its near a river could they be trying for salmon?.anyway after 20 mins or so the gulls start bombin right next to net the a seal turns up and starts diving next to net,i start throwing lure up side of net but think the water was to coloured.when i went back the next day to try low water there was three of these boats there with the same kind of nets out ,birds and seals there again and one boat was pulling in bits of net as he worked his way out from rocks and seemed to be getting a good few fish(to far out to see what they were).as i moved along the rocks i found the biggest bass ive seen(id guess it was over 8lb).it had a large bit ripped of its side from its gills down, could be a seal had pulled it from nets?.anyway back up there next week for 4 days so ill try again(also seen a few schoolies caught on bait)

I think I know the beach you mean mate. They are Northumbrian T-nets for Salmon. Just hope it doesn't affect the bass fishing!
