  • Our weekend at the Mull

Just back yesterday from our annual trip to the Mull. I wish I could say it was the trip of a lifetime but alas it was far from it. Strong winds and heavy rain made fishing difficult and uncomfortable at times. We all caught a lot of fish and were kept busy most of the time but the general stamp of fish was poor. We caught a good few species including wrasse, pollock, mackerel, coalies, bass etc. The crap weather and small tides didn't help but a poor weekend at the Mull is better than a good weekend at work! Sorry for the lack of pics, we just didn't have much reason to get the camera out.

    The average stamp of pollock.

The average stamp of Ballan Wrasse.

A new PB male Cuckoo Wrasse, beating my old pb by a couple of ounces.

    Stunning colours!!

    Typical Mull Schoolie Bass

A break in the awful weather!!

On the bright side the beef was very cheap in Scotland

Hopefully next time out will coincide with bigger tides and better weather. Still, nice to be out fishing instead of working.

It was good to meet up with your squad, just a pity the weather and fishing were not up to the mark. You lads certainly put the hours in during your stay. The weather is really horrible here now and the rain is hammering down !!!

Aye, you too John. Martin was commenting on how little he had seen of us during the four days lol. Up, breakfast, bait fishing, more fishing, food and sorting the bass gear then back out till after dark, then bed. We did call in the clash for a 'couple' on Saturday night

Were you bothered by the foxes at all ?? They quite often steal food off unsuspecting campers during the night !

No mate, but the story of the fox had us amused all weekend. Wally took his contact lenses out one night and nearly sh*t himself when he saw his own shadow move, thinking it was "the Fox" I nearly wet myself lol

I know for a fact that they are partial to duck eggs, bacon, bread, pasta and fresh mackerel. You have been warned :-)

great session by the looks of it,

to be fair the pollack and wrasse fishing hasnt really takn off this year, and fish are well below what can usually be expected, but im always the optimist and hope the bigger ones start showing soon

                            cheers
