Today i decided to fish the walkway at shields and what a big mistake, between the three of us we had 5 rods out and lost weights nearly every cast, but we did get fish,(coalies and small codling.)

After three hours we decided to go and fish the pier just before the gates, plenty bites which resulted in coalies, codling, plaice dabs and flounders.

will not be fishing the walkway until the winter when it is worth losing gear.

Back to the first gates tomorrow.

A big cast is needed at the walkway (150+ yards) if ya don't wanna loose gear

big tides will cause more snags as ya gear just drags either way finding snags but best on a big cast into the middle why i like to fish it when the tide slackens off on the ebb

yeah i got snaged when i just lobbed it out to see if there were any fish closer in because people were catching coalies on hanglines lol so i thought id have a short cast about 40 yards and got snaged. i think there is a rope out there because my line was frayed when i got snagged and when i pulled up on my rod the line snaped near the water so maybe it kept rubbing on a rope or something with the tide
