Arrived approx 2-30’pm’ met two lads leaving who reckoned nothing was doing, still keen to try first spinning session of the summer we marched on to our chosen spot which was surprisingly still available as quite a few were there fishing already.
First 30 min’s were slow but eventually the first mackerel of the day was caught only to drop off on the lift, the following hour produced steady fish mackerel and small coalies on the spinner not a lot of action with the lads using daylights. A quiet period of about an hour followed then into the fish again for a slow but steady catch rate. Fish were being caught at distance and close in at a variety of depths then the resident seal made an appearance , the game was now really on as to whether you could beat the seal and retrieve your fish before it pinched it off your spinner, quite entertaining really watching nature at work, the seal seemed to have a plan and it’s timing got better with each attack just about leaping out of the water in some instances close in, but after two near misses it caught every mackerel it attempted plucking them off the spinner (only lost one spinner to the seal)but surprisingly the seal never attempted to pinch the coalies! The fish then seemed to disappear altogether so called it a day about 6-30’pm’ having had a very enjoyable session
