Don't know what your budget is mate but the best light rod I've got (and I've got a few!) is the Anyfish Anywhere Surf rod. Nice and light and will cast up to 5 oz no problem, a good fishing tip and deceptively powerful - it's not that far behind some of my big rods in terms of distance. I use it regularly with a 6500 or 7HT mag, so would pair up with a rocket no bother. Only for clean ground though, I wouldn't take it near the rocks.

theres a few rods out around that could do the job for your wife to try , but i would look at the vfm first and is capable of throwing ot a 5oz lead out and i am fairly sure it can do 6oz. i know a few people who have them and like them and once seen a guy haul in a cod about 12 15lb on shields pier with a vfm only to lose on the lift so its qite a robust rod and light so might just do the job, hope this helps

reelsport in s/shields and hebburn sell them

P.S. i use an abu 6500 0n mine and its a nice combination, so a rocket would'nt be out of place on it

I use a Century Kompressor SS and find it light and easy to manage. I was a bit concerned that it would be to stiff for me but I can handle it fine. It has improved my casting and I use it on beaches as well as rock marks.

I had mine for 2 years then passed it on to carl (Snaggeduplad) who has been using it for 2 years now I think, and it's still going stron

greys triplex might be ok for a woman danny but they are quite exspensive from what ive heard their good rods.

im using a tip tornado sport its from around 2006 and its a nice rod, i cast 5oz no problem but it feels abit bendy for me i think it would suit a woman well lol not that im a woman but its not to stiff or soft and would handle all fishing u throw at it. im looking for something abit stiffer tho
