Thinking of getting a caravan up Eyemouth or very near but need some advice on the best way to go about it. I know I can contact the sites but I thought someone on here may have already been through the process and may be able to give me some good tips to possibly avoid any mare they experienced
I'm after a static van and would like to know if you can just bay a one of autotrader or the likes and have it transported to a site, then what's the cost for transport, site fees, etc. etc.
Any advise would be gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Gordon

            Hello Gordon,
Most of the sites insist that you buy the van from them and if it's not on the pitch you want they'll site it for you.
If you want to put a van of your own on a site then they'll also insist that they move and site the van for insurance purposes......they aren't keen on allowing other contractors on the site.
In my opinion it's best to choose your site, then look around for a van for sale on the site that suits your budget. On top of the cost of the van then there's the site fees, they can be anywhere from £1000 to £3500. There's also your gas, electric and water. You'll need insurance too.
On a lot. Of sites there's an age limit to the vans too, once they get old you'll need to upgrade or move on.
I don't want to sound negative about it all I just want to tell you how it is.
            Despite all
I'm on the Seafield site at Seahouses and I love my van, we've had some great times up there and although it sounds expensive we very seldom go abroad and spend a lot of time there. It's great for my dog and the fishing.

I hope this helps you a bit. Ian.

we used to own one at Berwick upon tweed / They is lots of pros and cons . If you rent it out thru the site owners they take there own cut from the rental plus u pay for the gas etc / Any thing goes missing you replace you must have a set number of cups spoons etc

Plus side some where to go everyweek if u not rent out / if you do rent it out for a certain amount of weeks think it used to be 10 or 12 over the year u can off set it against your income tax we hired a accountant and he got us a few grand back per year from tax man losses etc v caravan value and costs and rental etc
