I already have. One of the former Admin Team you mention added the rule.

    Elton still owns this site.
    Cheers, Keith.

might be the same as to why you cant sell a phone as it gets deleted as well, but it ok to sell a camera?
phone keeps you safe and it catches you fish pictures

I put up some cooking stuff once, bargain price...but I knew I was pushing it when I said it was for cooking fish and unsurprisingly it was removed.
I had no problem with that.

Moderating a forum is a thankless task, it really is. Most of the time they do get it right.
In my opinion this forum is actually under-moderated and for a few reasons I'd say NESA needs a few more mods.

As for the bait rule, that needs looking at.

          Like it or lump it?

I am a member on several different forums, most of which, require you not only to have a certain number of posts up but also pay anything from a fiver and in one case; a minimum of fifteen quid, before you can start selling anything at all.
If you want to sell stuff you've made, grown or collected specifically for sale; you're looking at a charge of £30 for the privilege of selling up to 8 separate items a month, then £60 for "unlimited sales" and a lot more than that if you're purely a seller.

          That's on other sites.

          On here:

There might be any number of reasons that bait sales are banned on here, I neither know nor care to be honest but ultimately (and I've been reminded of this several times elsewhere), it boils down to the fact that this and most other privately owned and run forums are not democracies, in other words, it matters not what the "members" think or want, if the person who actually owns the site says "no" you can either accept it or take a walk elsewhere, the normal response from most site owners is:

"if you don't like my rules, theres the door, you wont be missed!"

I can think of a few good reasons not to allow bait sales. I can also think of a few reasons for bait to be a legitimate sales item too.

It doesn't matter, I don't own the site but if I did, I'd run it as I saw fit and, as already stated above, anyone who disagreed with my policies, rules or attitude would have to put up with it or leave and not come back, or else they'd just be banned

There is absolutely no requirement on the part of the site owner to justify his/her/their policies or rules. By the same token, the so called "members" ( We are all really nothing more than "guests", even if we do pay a membership fee) have no rights to demand answers or to try to force changes to rules and regulations etc. You're not in "The Club" here, there is no "committee".

That's how almost all of these forums work.

-like it or lump it- it's : "My way or the highway"

              Thank You Liam & Paddlesac.

KeithB I do talk sense as most people who know me will vouch for me all I asked was a simple question about bait as on a previous post about Facebook I said there are pro,s and cons on each site meaning bait sales on other sites
To me asking this question was hopeing for a sensible reply which I don't think I've been given but thanks for your input

I was referring to the fishing related canary etc etc mate.

I appreciate you asked a genuine question, I replied straight away with what I think is the reason. Thinking back there was also a lot of trouble regarding sales of crab so it was stopped, and only sales of worm were allowed. Then eventually all bait was stopped.

                Quote from the rules:

"There will be no bait selling of any kind, it was restricted to worm but now it includes everything bait related."

I also appreciate comments made on this and the Facebook thread about the days when the site had a more "active" admin team.

Sadly Jim (willyweteg) was ill and hasn't been on the forum for years, the other admin (Elton) is obviously a very busy man and some of the moderators interests in fishing have dwindled so they aren't as active.

Having to moderate the arguments caused by football "banter" is bad enough without reintroducing bait selling.

So yes, the site has changed but at least it's still here. .
                Cheers, Keith.

Cheers KeithB the answer given about the history of worm/crab is enough for me
Ps have a good night and you will need more mods when the football season starts

Fair enough with the explanation on bait sales.

I’m assuming that quote/rule is an old one…I’d like to see bait sold on NESA, so could I formally request (or even suggest) that the position is reconsidered?
Appreciate its nothing of great importance and no toys thrown out pram if the answers no, but can the question be officially put to Elton/other mods please?

And while you’re on, a few more mods wouldn’t be a bad thing in my opinion especially if the bait selling position is reversed. Not that you are doing a bad job Keith, the moderation team just seems a bit thin on the ground.

EDIT: I've created a thread in the moderator area, pasted your request and asked for any thoughts.

I'll let you know if any feedback is received.

If you wish you could still contact Elton directly, pm or email.

                        Nice one Keith,
At least the question is being properly asked now. Will await response and if it’s a no then the issue can be put to bed.
