yes rob it is a tipping bait and there is others such as
      - mussel
      - crab
      - mackerel
      - white rag

      and others

the way to do this is take lug or rag kin or harbour loop over putting the head through then the belly leaving a bit of tail hanging for fish to nibble on then tipped with one of the above.
      Thanks :-)

Give a man a fish he cand feed him self for a day,
but teach him how to fish he will keep bait in his fridge

Squid opened and peeled (the skin so its just white). Stab some small holes in there and put a yellow and 2 mussle on a 4/0 6/0 pulley pennel then wrap the hood around the bait and use bait elastic (obviously you can either thread your hood top on the hook first or on the pennel after) . Wrap it tight but not too tight as to cut the hood. Thats a 20 minute bait if I've ever seen one lol

Species: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it

Robert, put some Lug and Mussel onto your hooks and then wrap a piece of squid around it. Fasten it all together with some bait elastic and prick a few little holes in it with something sharp so that the juices from the Mussel and Lugworm leak out and leave a nice scent trail for the fish to follow. Make sure that the bait does not cover the sharp point of your hooks or you will not be able to hook the fish.

If you can find some baby Squid you can fill them with any bait you want (Mussel is good when fishing the rocks) and then fasten them to your hook and tie it securely with your bait elastic.

                    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

I love using squid-big Calamari. I thread a couple of rag up my hook onto the line then get a squid-including the head cut it then and lash it onto my hook with bait elastic. I leave the tentacles hanging down and expose the2-0 and 3-0 hook on my Pennel. Used on a pulley rig and hoyed out. Caught a couple of big fish over the years with this simple but cheap and effective bait.
