  • need to fish somewhere different

Today i had a drive to sandy bay, i have never fished any areas north of the tyne but fancy hiring a caravan for a week and fishing the beaches up beside sandy bay.

Tide was well out and nobody was fishing, i did not go up today to fish only to have a look.

any advice on where is the best place to fish and where is the nearest tackle shop where i can get some fresh bait.

Anyone got a caravan up there who hires it out.

    Thanks

Danny, if you have a look just a bit further down the page from this thread there is a thread called sandy bay by Mick Brennan. There is quite a bit info on there that might help you.

Here's a link to the thread.

There are tackle shops in both Blyth and Newbiggin Danny, neither are too far from Sandy Bay as long as you have a car mate.

Sandy Bay - mouth you'll hit the odd school bass and flatties, bay itself you'll find flatties, lots of crabs and blennies/eels. It's a lovely quiet spot to fish, best on a morning or dusk tide, about 1.5 hrs each side depending on the tidal height. I fish the south side next to the boat huts with 2 rods - one out to the middle of the bay and one parallel, uptide, to the harbour wall.
Rag and fish strip, usually mackeral, produce. You can fish the bay with just light gear, I use spinning rods with 2oz sinkers and 2 hooks per rod, but be very aware that the narrow tidal path in/out has a VERY strong current, it's also littered with rocks so snaggy.
