Bait Jar.

I remember many years ago 1 of my neighbours boasting that he had made a jam jar with different bait in his house and left it to marinade and he said he caught stacks of fish. It was a long time ago and I cant remember what he said was in it but I quite fancy giving it a go myself and would like to know if anyone has made such a thing. If so what did you put in it, how long to marinade etc?

Im still a bit of a novice really. In the past I used to go fishing but it was always quite basic i.e 1 hook rigs and either rag or lug. Now that im back into fishing I would like to go a bit more in depth and making a bait jar may be a way for me to start.

never herd of one but some people mash up leftover baits in a blender then pour them in ice cube trays and freeze them i think, not sure if there any good though...

My Dad used to use one years ago. He used to thread old lug/rag, mussel, squid onto a hook tied to a snood and place them in a jar full of cod liver oil/olive oil (or whatever came out of the tuna tin mum made the sandwiches with). These were done about a week before he went fishing. He always came back home with fish, but then back in the 60's the fishing was a lot better.

used to leave mussles to ripen in the shed for a week or 2 they ussally outfished fresh
