    Hi,
Is it too early to go spinning?, I know it is for makerel. But what about for pollack or bass?
Can anyone give me some decent spots to try. I heard dunstanburgh castle and eyemouth areas are good. Are there any spots closer to tynemouth worth a try this time of year?

    Cheers

If we get a decent calm spell it might be worth a go, I would guess that the water might still be a bit murky for the spinners or jelly worms in most places yet. I've never tried as early as this for that reason, keep your eyes on the sea and as soon as it clears you could give it a try.

if its any help ive jst seen the sea at blyth and it is like a mill pond! it actually looked fairly clear also. so provided the sea stays calm by sat or sun it should be fine.
this time of year is never that productive but i have had the odd fish from dunstanburgh castle around easter time. if i were you id just go and see what happens, its better than staying at home whatever happens!! especially with the decent forecast for the weekend.

      hope this helps

      good luck!!

Cheers for that Dave, as you say it might just be worth a try if it's clear mate.

          Thanks lads,

The forecast is good for the weekend, so might give it go.
Might try a bit float fishing as well.
Just wanting to do a bit of light fishing, big beach casters put away untill winter now.
Any suggestions on where to go, don't really want to travel as far as dunstanburgh just yet with it being early?

          Cheers
          Chris

It all seems a bit quiet just now but there may be a few puddlers around that are keen to take a spinner.

worth trying the end of shields pier, probably more chance with small feathers than spinners, had plenty small coalies and lots of launce in april of previous years.
apparently a few mackerel turned up in one of the trawlers nets last week not far offshore, very early, maybe with a couple of weeks settled weather who knows !

You could try Whitley pipe. It's worth a shot. Could pick up the odd pollock or coalie if nothing else
