Does anybody know the best place for shore fishing from hythe (kent) in the winter for cod/codling? i have been summer fishing in hythe for mackerel and been very successful fishing from the rocks by the little chef and from the rocks further along the princess pirade beach by the hotel but are they a good place for winter fishing for cod? has anybody caught cod from the shore in hythe before? also any suggestions on baits and rigs will be much appreciated.

Hi Swany and good to have you here.
There\'s NESA members from all around the country, Swany, so I wouldn\'t be surprised if we\'ve got a member (or 2) from down your way and has fished the area you mention.
If not, then many of the people on here travel all over the place to fish......chances are somebody will be able to give you some info.
Hope so, anyway.

how swaney,
forgot to mention Admiralty Pier fished this one last year it cost to get on this shot think its about a fiver now but atleast you know its safe and sound. worth a walk along for a look, when you walk along only about 300 yards along it there is a cracking shot in the distance called Samphire Hoe this is well worth checking out. i have not fished this mark but well advisable for summer and winter fishing.
forgot to mention that the dover breakwater may be a difficult one as you have to catch a boat to get on to it and it is restricted to weather conditions times etc.....
not to sure if it would be to far for you to travel but there are also some good shots in the sussex area if you are willing to travel that bit further.
cheers john

Fished Samphire a couple of times. Most of the matches fished there target small fish but plenty of them (some are catch and release with undersize fish counting). There are decent fish there and don\'t neglect down the wall. It is hard going on line though, can be chaffed to bugger.
PM if you want more info.
