  • Peeler Crab Question

Forgive me if this is a dumb question. A couple weeks ago i fished from the tyne b4 i set my rods up i dropped my live bait trap into the water. After a couple hours fishing i decided to call it a day as fishing was very quiet. When i pulled my live bait trap out of the water it was bursting at the seams with crabs must of been at least 100 crabs in there which all were returned safe. My question is do peelers feed when they are peeling and is it possible that i would catch them in my live bait trap Thanks

they dont eat so trying to tice them with fish bait etc will only attract every dogger crab in the area

on rare occasions a male crab will feed while carrying a female peeler under them in all my years fishing this has happened twice, ive caught a male crab while fishing that was carrying a female peeler under them. it may be that its more common and the male lets the female go as you are winding in.
am i the only person this has happened to ?
i've asked severel other anglers and its never happened to them !
