I don't think there's anybody has never had any help/advice along the way to helping them improve but that's what friends do.However for someone to just expect people they don't know personally to wipe their backsides for them on a public forum is laughable.Then again one read through previous posts and it's obvious why they don't have any friends to help them.

I think this post can be summed up as follows;
1) Some people think that in order to gain a better knowledge of fishing you have to go out and try every possible method in every condition.
Although this is fishing at its purest not everyone has the luxury to be able to do this.
2) Some people think that in order to gain a better knowledge of fishing you have to mix personal experience with learned information from others.
Although not stirctly learning things for yourself it does help those who cannot afford to dedicate vast ammount of time to the sport.
I must admit I sit slightly on the fence on this subject. I try to dedicate as much time as I can to my sport. If I'm honest, without help from some on this forum, and others, I would know far less than I do now. I do feel though that there is no one fishing in this area who has learned it all for themselves and not had help at some point - if there is I stand corrected!
Now when it comes to passing this information on. If I am out fishing and someone comes over I will happily speak to them - at length sometimes - about the mark/tactics/baits/conditions etc. If someone on here asks a general question and I have what I feel could be some useful information I will share it with them. I don't post catch reports now as I feel they have become a bit of a spectacle with people disputing weights of fish and the precise location it was caught. If I want to say I caught in in a general area then you reading it should accept that and just be grateful that it is there to be read in the first place!
I think everyone can agree that where there is an issue is when people take advantage of the information others give or make presumptions/take liberties with that information. For some people think it is acceptable to ask where and when fish are being caught and expect those who have put the work in to bend over backwards to help them and then chastise them when they do not give that information out.
I think on the perfect forum there would be an amount of give and take, where those who have vast knowledge and experience are willing to share a little (but not all) and those who are asking for help are humble and grateful in return. There used to be a lot more catch reports and up to date info on this site but it does seem to me now that it is more preoccupied with people sniping at each other and playing out petty personal squabbles on line. Frankly when you look at some of the US fishing forums it puts this one to shame with peoples attitudes. This is not an attack on those that do a great job of running this forum but on some of the boring miserable members who moan on all the time. I would like to say as a final note I am not criticising anyone who has posted on this thread up until now.
