  • Tope and smooth hounds

Just heard that some have been caught off the shore in the Whithorn area. Thats as much as I know at the moment. Great to hear though.

Plenty smooth hounds caught off the shore in Luce Bay to peeler crab. Some quite easy marks too.

Tope are also possible off the shore but I have never tried for them this way. Have got all mine in the boat.

Weathers crap still over west and has been off and on for a few weeks
i sailed into isle of whithorn last sat nite to shelter from a south east gale 8 the seas were bad and big tides didnt help.
i was on route from Ramsey isle of man to Kirkcudbright but had to cut trip short and went into isle of whithorn and was canny pleased when i was safely in shelter.
Few damaged boats in ramsey on friday nite due to this gale 8 i was lucky as i just got i
nto ramsey about 2 hours before the gale came thro.
weather and these low pressures need to get gone before fishing over there will improve.
Pulled mackerel fethers from whitehaven to isle of man and back to Kirkcudbright. ....nowt so no mackerel no tope.
few more weeks and settled weather will see better sport .
