Just wondered if anyone has insurance for fishing and how much does it cost and what are you covered for,I thought about it the other year when I went a#se over t#t at Cambois,i had a few bumps and scrapes but was otherwise ok,my gear survived as well but it could have been alot worse,Is that correct that you need insurance to be in a fishing club ?

If you join NFSA you get insurance, not sure what the deal is in detail. It\'s just over a tenner for the year to join and your dosh also goes towards other sea angling projects. Check out the website NFSA something. Some clubs provide you with insurance as well I think, maybe only for club matches though?

most angling clubs provide insureance with your yearly subs or at least the club i attend does seaham angling club.this covers accidents to people but i dont think it covers gear i believe some house hold insureance covers for sporting goods.

Alan as Ken says your house insurance will cover your gear no probs I have been using that for years. My car was broken into at Cullernose Point a few years ago and the gear that was stolen was replaced on my house insurance, not sure right now what the limit is or was but I claimed and received a flotation suit and a Coleman lamp that were stolen. Check with your company to avoid problems later.
Certainly beats claiming on your car insurance.
I have also had claims paid up for lost and broken rods and reels, agian check and make sure before you pay as these people will do anything to avoid payment.
Jim.Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

My club New Hartley SAC gets it\'s insurance through the Northern Federation of Sea Angling Societies. This gives members £2 million of third party liability as well as personnal accident cover. Alan Charlton will have info for anyone interested. This covers members boat or shore, pleasure or club matches anywhere in the UK and covers the club for Opens.
My house insurance will pay me if my gear is lost, broken or stolen whilst at home or in transit but won\'t pay when being used so I have been advised to get sporting insurance from a specialist broker.
