getting motivated..and clubs

just a few little thoughts i`ve been having lads...over the past 4months ive been finding it hard to get myself motivated to fish,worst ive ever been.Dont know if it`s been a combination of reading bad catch reports as well as hearing them from lads i know or what.did`nt even bother sorting my tyres out last year for crab either,did get some but i bought them.Well now i think i`ve sussed it and the answer is...to join a club....now i`ve got something to look forward to whether it`s weekly,fortnightly matches or whatever.No better motivation than winning a few quid in the club matches or opens...anybody else been in the same boat?...p.s anybody recommend a good club?

Joining a club is always a good idea, you feel part of something bigger and have the matches to look forward to. Also you learn from each other and get to know whats being caught etc. Ive fished in a few clubs over my career and can defo recommend joining one.

Quite a few clubs out there - no harm in joining more than one as they often fish matches on different nights which is good in the winter as it means you can often get to at least a couple of matches a week (as long as you've got the FPOs permission that is )

Matches aren't everyones cup of tea but they can get you into the practice of moving about if the fish aren't feeding and like Steve says it's nice to feel part of a club

Like anything in life you may find one that suits you over another

Check out the club reports and mebbes drop a PM to the person who posted the results if their club catches your eye

even if the clubs aint your cup of tea theres allways site meets where a few of the lads meet up once a month and fish at certain venues have a bit crac and maybe the odd wager on heaviest fish but ya dont have to but ya do get to meet some good lads pick up some good tips and enjoy it at the same time

I personally don,t like club fishing-much prefer to just go off on my own and suit myself.

However i have started to fish for Durham Police in the boat section and the Shore section.

Its really opened my eyes to the sport. I have fished the South coast at places i would never have gone to. And has been really enjoyable-if somewhat tense.

Places i have been to in matches are

Whitby (boat)
Sandsend (beach)
Craster (boat).
Felixstowe beaches (beaches).
Folkstone (beaches).
And next October i am in Ireland representing Durham Police.

Oh and i,m booked up with some mates to go to Norway next Feb shore fishing.

Mick, would representing the durham constabulary be done in your own time or the council tax payers time ? My old man couldn't stand any copper going of in police time to do anything except policing buisness.

My own view enjoy while you can, because none of us never know. Which unfortunately has been proven three times.

Think I can speak for Mick but we do it in our own time, have to take our leave and pay our extras. Get some funding from our social clubs that we pay into but generally out of pocket. That said make some good friends and have some good crack, learn a bit off your patch which opens your eyes somewhat but most of all ENJOY YOURSELF

Met some of the Cleadon and S. Shields lads through Northumbria Police SAC matches. Don't think it's all take, take, take. Don't forget we pay TAX too

Why is it whenever the emergency services are mentioned some moot always brings up Taxes. ie; we pay your wage and most of them are on invalidity or the dole and dont bloody pay anything into society.
