Personally, I think its a big rip off for what you get. An empty box with an uncomfortable harness.

I'd look at 2nd hand mate. You should get both for under £40.

IMO nothing better for lugging all your gear around and somewhere to sit while your watching your rodtip. If your going to be rock hopping then you might want a bag for your back instead of the box tho.

Depends a lot on where you will be fishing. For me if im on a pier or walkway then its handy to have a seat so your not sitting on the urine-soaked deck! For the rocks and general wandering along the cliff marks then i use the Greys rucksack, 2 side pockets, 1 large front and a good sized main bag, very comfy shoulder straps, just means you have to find a nice comfy rock to sit on!

Tried the rucksack and box thing, always go back to the shakey box. gear is kept dry in rain or when it gets a soaking from a swell. Its also more organised plus you have a seat. downside of a box is bulk, takes up more room in the car boot. Just fit a breakaway backrest and a camlock and they are easy to carry. Box can be washed out when it smells and they last for years!

I have a rucksack but only use it for a long hike or down cliffs or when room is needed in the car, for example if there are 3 or 4 of you then boxes can take up too much room. Rucksacks fall to bits after a year or two's hard use.

Advantages of a box outweigh the rucksack.

Ive got to agree with Chukka, most of my fishing since I first started has been with a box. I do occasionally use a backpack, but mostly in the summer. The rare occasions I used one on the beach was to keep a bit more mobile but for reasons mentioned above I quite often wished I'd just took my box. I have to have something to sit on now and although I found a small backpack with a stool attatched a couple of years ago I only use it rarely.

As for swells and the like, I would probably had loads of gear ruined if I had always used a rucksack, the amount of times my box has been floating or at least soaked I don't know lol.
