Right just sold my penn mags 2 x2 just could not feel the love as they say with them but love the old USA ones x2 I would love to no wot people's thoughs of a fathem 15 ????????? And to get it Magged up I am a good distance caster was thinking would this improve my distance not that I really need it but like too better my self my peace of mind . Cheers lads for your input :
nice reels but still prefer the mk1 mags the fathom i had was noisy as anything seen a couple with snapped handles and also a couple where the the reel foot had came loose better when made in usa
I have two fathom 15 reels + penn mag 2 the fathom reel in my opinion is a very good reel.
I have cleaned away all the blue grease from inside the reel and replaced with a few drops of rocket fuel also did the same with the spindle and bearings.
there are 6 brakes after some advice from lads on nesa I locked four of the brakes into place and run the reel with just two it works fine.
18lb main line 60lb shocker.
my m8 also has the fathom 15 set it for him the same as mine he is a better caster than myself and he can send it out some distance, he intends to buy another one after his holidays.
when I first decided to buy a fathom all the tackle shops had sold out.
its best to shop around for prices.

no my reel is not maged ,there is a set of brake blocks inside fitted to the spool on a white plastic plate left side of the reel total 6 they are on small springs you just push back one at a time back .
as stated I only have two one at 12 oclock and one at 6 oclock and that works fine for me.
you can also have the reel mag if you wish rutherfords do them not sure of the cost hope that helps
