  • Blyth beach danger

Have been along Blyth beach today with the dog, with the big tides and rough weather we have had there has been serious erosion. I walked through the path at the middle toilets and there was quite a drop onto the beach, going north in some parts in must be ten feet. The sand dunes themselves have already collapsed in places right to the ash, soils etc below them. I would advise not going fishing there at high tide, we don't want anymore tragic accidents.

Yeah it was already getting bad there the other week when we walked the dogs early one morning - was still dark and I nearly set my neck!

Cheer's for that Alan, it sounds dangerous if someone does'nt see it.

I remember you posting about it a couple of weeks ago Lee, sounds like it's getting worse mate.

      Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

if I get time tomorrow might pop along and get some photos, wifes in hospital at the minute getting her metatarsils screwed together, told her she was to old for football, and wish they had confiscated her mobile before she went in.
Have been onto Northumberland County Council, they where going to look into it straight away, and Natural England, see what happens it certainly needs taping off.

I was down there earlier on taking a look and its a canny difference from a couple of weeks ago, when you walk along the path from the toilets and come to the end of the dunes with the beach in front of you theres a 6-7 foot drop before you get on the beach.if you look north its the same for about 20 yards and south is about 10 yards its also effected the bottom of the dunes.
Ive got some photos on my phone and if i can find the cable i will hoy them up.
The only fish i want this year is a double figured cod!!!

its even worse if you go northwards to Meggies Burn, think I may have seen you Tilly about 11o,clockish, saw somebody taking photos with a phone, I was the one sitting on the blocks while the dog went off in search of whatever he could find.

was many year's ago (the tank trap's)
just hope the fish will come back.

3 or 4 weeks back, fishing the middle toilets, I walked through (and as I don't normally turn my lamp on till I'm ready to start) and stepped straight off that ledge - must have dropped 5 or 6 feet straight down. Funny thing was I never lost my footing or balance or anything, but it was one of those real "what the f*@!" moments! Had a good look then & when coming off had to walk quite a long way around. Looks a lot worse now mind.

Judging by the state of Whitley beach at the moment I think I know where all the sand's gone!
