Anyone know if seals hunt in darkness ?

Reason I ask is that a mate of mine over the past week has had 2 fish snatched on the retrieve , leaving only half a fish when landed. This has happened at the same mark and we know there is at least 1 seal in the area (frequently seen in daylight).

You would imagine that they do feed at night. On the other hand, it could be a big conger or something.

i had a good encounter with a seal whilst macky bashing about 6 weeks ago.
it was always within ten foot of me, let me reel in my catch, and when i caught coley and threw them back, he would dive after them!, i was reeling in right past him too within about a foot and he took no notice of the fish on the line
he was a seriously large bull too but we reckon he had had a lot off human contact, maybe released from a long time in a seal sanctuary, we still see him knocking around the fish harbour hoovering up the scraps.
