Which would you choose?

I'm needed to get a new rod for the rough kelp jungles as the one I've been using has softened over the years and never really had it in it in the first place.
I've always wanted a Century but could never merit the cost but I reckon I'm gonna bite the bullet and get one. I was looking at he the Kompressor SS or Carbon Metal Crest. I'm not a massive bloke so I'll probably struggle with a scaffoling pole. I was just wondering which one you'd choose for rough ground fishing. OR should I be looking at a different rod all together ( a bloke offered me 100quid for a 6year old nemesis)?

Another quicke, has anyone noticed that there's load of Nemesis's for sale on in the classifed and in world sea fishing?

the new elimininator is in a different league to the rest in my opinion for belting big baits a long way into kelp jungles. mind you it comes accross as a scaffold pole but if can slowly progress the cast, boy it makes a bait fly.

if your after a slightly softer rod I would advise a look at the zziplex range, the m427 is the latest daddy for kelp.

i have all or had all the century rods in the range and the ss is the most user friendly and ok in the kelp,the ttr is first for me every time not as stiff as people think,then the kompressor ss then prob the eliminator but as you say dont rule out the crest it has the stiffest tip section that century make so i am told.

I currently use an old greys SRX and its a really user friendly rod with a good solid tip for kelp etc, also got a nemesis plus slr 13ft which i love, dead light easy to cast and has enough to cope with kelp etc. ive had a ttr and couldnt compress it enough to get the most from the rod (especially when casting into a head on wind), ive never used an eliminator but have had the chance to give one a bend in a mates house and christ they are stiff as hell!
As many have said, your best bet is to try out a few different rods to see which is best suited to your needs, difficult i know but could save you £400!

one thing which i found very interesting was a remark one of the lads who'd been to norway said, which was after pulling far far bigger fish through the same ground as we have over here he was going to start using lighter not as hard rods, to get more sport out of fish. made me think are us lads in the north east becoming over obsessed with power poles? especially when the majority of fish are 1-3lb!

the soniks might not break the bank but they do break, my mate has had 3 snap. ill never have one.

A very good rod for the money is an I max 6 stroke 7......I know they're not century/zziplex but they're definitely up to it. They're not so easy to get hold of now but they do come up on that auction site for less than a ton

av got the kompressor ss and its a mint bit of kit. BUT

The thing with the ss was i had to get it re whipped after about 6 months, as the water got in under whipping and went brown, and its started to get in again, and the reel seat has been replaced twice and its broke again, the shop where i bought it told me the reel seat problem is common on century rods, it shouldnt really be happening with a £300 rod.
Am lookn to buy a second rod and the eliminator looks the biz but the brown water marks and the crap reel seat is making me look at other makes.

i,ve got the crest and the new AFAW clubman plus,both very good for me as i am only 5ft 7 and have a damaged left hand which the slim diameter helps me

Quality....very disapointing

so is that those two makes out.... now i have seen 4 zzippys go crack.. but never a shakespeare rod .... does this mean we all go out and buy shakespeares , everybody has their own opinions about rods, and what suits one person may not suit another.. but a few things to rememember is if the worst does happen.. is the aftersales service good.. will it be replaced.. will you have to pay.. how long will you have to wait......

its definately a hard choice especially if your going to pay £100's for a rod... good luck on your decision..

p.s. i fish with a DAM adrenaline ..same as RT Ax.. and a SK4 and had no probs so far

wouldn't have 1 of these, i bought 5 stroke 6 as a spare rod and snapped 2 in in 2 days

I have heard of problems with the 5/6 but never heard a bad word about the 6/7's

in terms of customer care, you cant beat conoflex IMO.
